What could you do for yourself this summer?
This is the seventh article in a series on how I set up a life I don't need to escape.
So what is this guided, short summer program, Marsha?
TLDR version: Summer Slowdown: Craft Your Personal Escape Plan is a 9-week program to help you gently work through the crap that’s keeping you from creating a slow life.
Let’s break that down.
This is not linear learning where concepts and facts build upon each other. This is about creating relevant personal experiences for you, not delivering a lot of overwhelming content.
This is an exploration with open-ended questions (and answers) leading to deeper open-ended questions. The exploration starts where you are and goes where you take it.
High touch, low overwhelm
Summer Slowdown is set up in three loops of three weeks each, what I’m calling “spirals” because they are designed to circle back to seven key areas at deeper levels. The result is that you’ll see an overview of your life while at the same time seeing the gaps and possibilities.
And starting from the first day, you’ll start to create that space and reconnection with Nature.
All of this in tiny, daily touchpoints.
Summer Slowdown consists of:
Short videos introducing the focus of each three-week spiral and each week
A mid-week video touchpoint
Daily journaling prompts to be answered in three, short bullets
Daily questions for those journaling prompts delivered in short, daily audio
Minimal, text-based reading material
Because I want to minimize your on-screen time and keep the digital noise down, we’ll use Voxer to share the audio and video and our experiences. Voxer is a private, encrypted, live (and recorded) messaging app for your phone. No ads, nothing else.
Voxer allows me to be your personal guide, whispering in your ear.
Support for the sticky stuff
Which means you’ll be able to listen to the day’s question in the morning and think about it as you go about your summer activities, jotting down something in your journal when you get a chance. Then popping into Voxer to share an observation or ask a question. I’m also using a user-friendly platform where you’ll be able to find everything else related to the program easily.
Because this kind of exploration and introspection typically brings up a lot of sticky stuff for most people, I'm offering different levels of one-to-one coaching on Zoom. I know coaching is not for everyone, so you can decide.
Summer Slowdown officially starts this Monday, July 1, but you’ll get access to the first videos on Sunday so you can prepare. (Hint: Buy a tiny notebook that will fit in your pocket. That’s the prep.)
Because I want to make sure I can provide the best experience for everyone, I'm also limiting the number in the program.
Registration opens tomorrow.
Talk to you then.
